Audrey Elaine Quickel

Audrey Elaine Quickel, 95, of Coopersburg, PA, passed away on January 6th, 2025, at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center. Born in York, PA, Audrey was the daughter of the late Jacob Herr and the late Marian (Gruber) Shirey.

Audrey attended William Penn High School and graduated in 1948. After High School, she married the late Thomas E. Quickel also from York PA. Thomas joined the US army and the couple traveled to Germany for an overseas tour, later returning to York PA and then moving to West Caldwell NJ to raise a family. In 1999 Audrey moved to Easton PA and retired. There she remained until 2021 when her son David and wife Lilly returned from overseas assignment in England UK. All three moved to Coopersburg PA in January 2022.

Besides being a homemaker, Audrey worked as a bookkeeper for Drew Chemical and the plumbing supply company she was part owner in. Her passion for life extended well beyond her professional endeavors, Audrey enjoyed antiques, sewing, knitting, and crafting, selling many of the items she made at local fairs. She was an avid bowler in her younger years. Audrey loved watching sports like golf, baseball, tennis, the Olympics, and football; following her favorite teams the Yankees, NY Giants, Eagles, KC Chiefs, and the Nittany Lions.

Audrey was an active member in the Autumn Club in Easton PA. Audrey was happiest when she was visiting her grandchildren and traveling to England to visit her son David, touring Europe and attending the Open Golf Championships across the United Kingdom. Above all else, Audrey loved her family deeply and cherished the time spent with them. 

Audrey will be dearly missed by her children, David (Lillian), Timothy (Faith), and Matthew (Corine); her six grandchildren, Sarah, Thomas (So Mai), Ashley, Brittany, Taylor, Matthew (Melissa); and her Great Grandson Winter; along with her extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, Audrey is predeceased by her brother James Herr and stepfather Alvah Shirey. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Audrey’s name to Phoebe Richland. Phoebe is a caring organization. Their staff took excellent care of Mom during her stay.
