Arthur Carrington Jones of Quakertown went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and hospice nurse. He had celebrated his 82nd birthday on February 20th with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Born in Pottstown he was the son of the late Rev. George and Kathryn Jones. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Anna (Roberts) Jones for 50 years. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Doylestown, Fountainville, where he sang in the choir at one time. Arthur was the loving father of two daughters, Debra Goolsby (Cleveland) of Quakertown, and Nicole Braun of Perkasie; four sons, Arthur Gerald of Reading, Marvin (Susan) of Pottstown, Terry (Denise Childs, fiancé) of Quakertown, and David of Reading. "Poppy", as he was affectionately called will also be missed by fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn his loss is a sister, Beatrice Day of Pottstown. An extended family of brothers and sisters' in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends will also mourn his loss. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Winston and Charles Jones, and a son, John Paul. All who knew "Art" will remember his vibrant smile and laugh, and his devotion and love to his family. Services will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral and Cremation Service, 135 West Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, 18951. Relatives and friends will be received by his family from 10 to 11:00 a.m. The Homegoing Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Quakertown.
