Anthony Ernesto Volpe, age 79, of Starr Road, Quakertown, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, including his dog, Romeo. Born on November 7, 1931 in Torre dei Nolfi, Italy, he was the son of the late Aurelio and Lucia (LoStracco) Volpe. Anthony was the beloved husband of 52 years to the late Felicetta "Phyllis" (Silvestri) Volpe, who passed away in January, 2008. Anthony immigrated to the United States in 1947. He was a member of St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church, Quakertown, and was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was an Army war veteran of the Korean Conflict. Anthony was first a trained mechanic, and then became a Journeyman plumber and worked for Williard, Inc. for 30 years. Anthony loved and took pleasure in being with his family, and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He also enjoyed gardening, fixing almost anything, driving his tractor, playing games with his family, watching the Phillies and Flyers with his family, and especially watching his grandchildren in different sports, plays, recitals and other activities. Anthony was a friend to everyone, and transcended all generations with his humor, charm and infectious smile. He was always forthright in his approach with everyone he encountered. Anthony was truly "one-of-a-kind" and always knew what to say in good times and bad. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Anthony is survived by his four children: Christina (Volpe) and Marko Lubic, Anthony and Annette Volpe, Loretta (Volpe) and Frank Carter, and Stella (Volpe) and Gary Snyder. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Michael and Lauren Lubic, Allison and Michael Volpe, and Emma and Benjamin Carter. Anthony is survived by his sister, Poldina (Volpe) Ventresca; his brother, Dante Volpe, passed away in May, 2011. He is also survived by his many grandogs and his own dog, Romeo, his best buddy, a Shih-Tzu rescue from Last Chance Ranch. Anthony's viewing will be held on Thursday, October 6 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Naugle Funeral Home, 135 West Pumping Station Road, Quakertown (215-536-3343; http://www.janauglefcs.com/home.html).
