Alvin J. Green, 91, of Taylors, S.C. and 50 year resident of Trumbauersville Road, Quakertown, PA; was promoted to heaven on Feb. 14, Valentines Day, to meet his Savior who IS the greatest love of all and was reunited with his wife and sweetheart Marjorie (Funk) who preceded him in death in 1991. Alvin was born Dec. 19, 1920 to Randolph and Ida (Bell) on the prairies of North Dakota where they homesteaded. He later joined the Navy in 1942 and served in WWII and Korea during which time he met and married "his Margie" whom he met in Philadelphia while his ship was dry docked there. After the service he became a heavy equipment mechanic working for Giles and Ransome 24 years and Case Power and Equipment 14 years before retirement in 1984. Alvin was a faithful child of God and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Sellersville, PA and Clearview Baptist Church in S.C. He was an avid gardener and would tinker with lawn mowers and enjoyed auctions. He was able to maintain his independence for all his 91 years - thanks be to God. He is survived by a son, Alvin R. Green and wife Carol of Pelham, N.C.; and a daughter Marjorie, wife of Pedersen of Taylors, S.C. with whom he resided; two grandchildren, Marcia Green and C. James Overby; sister Ruby Sweley, and brothers Clifford and Randolph. He was predeceased by siblings Wallace, Albert, Beulah and Noranda. Services will be held Sat, Feb. 25th at 11 a.m. in Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown. Call: 10-11 a.m. Sat at the funeral home. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery, Philadelphia.
